Salem Library trustees to hold meeting Thursday
SALEM -- The Salem Public Library's board of trustees will hold a special meeting to discuss insurance at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
West Branch school board to meet Thursday
BELOIT -- The West Branch Local School District Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 5:45 p.m. Thursday in the principal's conference room at the high school. Members of the board will review and approve the disposal of school records in accordance with its records retention schedule.
Salem 1959 to meet at noon Saturday
SALEM -- The Salem High School Class of 1959 will meet for a luncheon, hosted by Mary Lou Hartzell, at noon Saturday at her home on Southridge Drive. Classmates planning to attend and haven't contacted Hartzell, are asked to contact Henry Lieder at hlieder@aol.com or 330-633-0351.
Swiss steak dinner offered at Winona Friends
WINONA -- A swiss steak dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Winona Friends Church. In addition to swiss steak, the meal includes mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, roll, dessert and beverage. Cost is $9 for adults.
Dinner, auction set in East Palestine Saturday
EAST PALESTINE -- "The Niki Feezle Auction and Dinner of Hope" will be held Saturday at Dull's Auction, 50600 state Route 14. Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 each. Many unique Christmas gifts will be available in the silent and live auctions. Proceeds will be directed to the Niki Feezle Cystic Fibrosis Foundation that benefits families with children with cystic fibrosis. For more information call 724-336-5512.
Christmas auction planned at Salem Eagles
SALEM -- The public is invited to a special Christmas auction at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles Club, 1884 N. Ellsworth Ave., back hall. The kitchen opens at 4 p.m.
Other events next month includes the membership Christmas party from 7 to 11 p.m. Dec. 15 at the club. Attendees are asked to bring a coverdish for the dinner at 7:30 p.m.
The Christmas party for children and grandchildren of Eagles members will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 16 at the post home. The annual event is hosted by the ladies auxiliary.
Breakfast offered at Salem AMVETS Sunday
SALEM -- The public is invited to the Sons of AMVETS and Drill Team breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the post home, 750 S. Broadway Ave. The menu offers any style eggs, French toast and haystacks with milk, juice and coffee.
Salem Chamber's annual meeting set Dec. 6
SALEM --Reservations are now being taken for the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce's 71st annual meeting. The luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 6 at the Salem Golf Club. The chamber will be celebrating and acknowledging its accomplishments of the year and will honor outgoing board members and voting on six new board members. This year's award recipients include Shawna L'Italien of Harrington, Hoppe and Mitchell Attorneys-at-Law as the 2017 Outstanding Citizen of the Year, Essential Vision Care as the 2017 Business of the Year and the Banquet in Salem as the 2017 Non-Profit of the Year.

Hearthstone Fireside Gathering planned at KSU Salem
SALEM -- The Hearthstone Fireside Gathering begins at 5 p.m. Dec. 11 in the auditorium, room 134, on the Kent State University Salem campus. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. There will be food, prizes and lots of fun. Bring a tablet or laptop with Hearthstone on it and be prepared for epic battles. There is a $5 cover charge. This event is sponsored by FlashDrive, KSU Salem's eSports team.
Minerva Alzheimer's caregiver support group to meet
MINERVA --To provide support to the thousands of caregivers between Carroll, Columbiana and Stark counties, the Alzheimer's Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter offers free caregiver support groups, meeting monthly to share experiences and best practices when caring for a loved one with dementia and to care for yourself as a caregiver.
The Minerva caregiver support group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the YMCA, 687 Lynwood Drive. First time attendees are encouraged to contact the 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900 to confirm information around the holidays.
The Alzheimer's Association is able to offer care and support programs free of charge thanks to the generous donations received through the Walk to End Alzheimer's and other volunteer events. To help the Mahoning Valley Walk to End Alzheimer's reach its fundraising goal by years end, make a donation at alz.org/eastohio or call 800-272-3900. If you cannot make a donation but would like to support the Alzheimer's Association mission, the Greater East Ohio Area Chapter is also seeking volunteers in Columbiana County.
